Thank You For Visiting LymeBlog A lot of work goes into this
website on a daily basis. It is rapidly growing in popularity with thousands of
hits to the site each day.
This only proves that at times I can still
follow instructions I write to myself and keep the site up. (Only other Lymies
would understand the humor of that statement.
I started this site
because no one, none of my friends, none of my family, could understand that
what I was (am) going through was not just me. It is a lot of people going
through the same thing.
I started searching the Internet and found
information on a lot of good discussion groups but that information was not
available to the general public. You had to join the group in order to
read the posts.
I found a lot of information and misinformation on
websites too. I had learned enough from the discussion groups to be sceptical of
some of this information. I had gleaned information from what each person was
saying in their postings, not from any direct information. I really learned much
more from reading people's personal stories on these discussion groups than from
any official Lyme association website like the LDA.
Then I got the idea
that there could be a site where people could put up daily logs, journals and
diaries about their life with Lyme disease and other people, people with just a
passing interest as well as those who are suffering from the disease,
could read them.
A place where the latest news articles about Lyme
disease could be passively read by persons who are just curious or just
wondering if they could have Lyme or if they should just give up when their
doctor tells them that they couldn't have Lyme, that they are just getting old.
For family members it might help them understand that their loved one
was not crazy. For people who had not yet realized that they might have Lyme it
would help them move toward trying to find qualified help. For the misdiagnosed
it could help them stop the wrong treatment and seek an LLMD.
Then I
decided that keeping the latest news up on the site would help inform people on
the scope of this infection much better than just telling them. Stories about a
football player with Lyme, a country music performer with Lyme, stories from
Europe and the United Kingdom, stories about famous writers with Lyme all have
caused people to give a lot of positive feedback.
There is another
reason, in my opinion, to have a place to share information like LymeBlog, so we
can see what has worked for others and what doesn't work. As you can see from my
blog I'm still fighting. I have now lost everything, my job, my home, my spouse
and now my income from my disability insurance. I've even started accepting
donations to try to cover the expenses. Any amount is appreciated
from $3.99 a month up.
I would like to thank each of you so much for your
support, and if you would, please feel free to submit news articles and start a
blog. Being a Lymie I can use all the help I can get.
Please
let me know if you have any suggestions on how to improve the site and thank you
again for taking the time to visit LymeBlog and for your help in getting the
word out.
